How does society define beauty? How does this definition influence our perceptions of our own images?

Society says exactly what is perfect and yet this is the real world and in here there is no "REAL" defination of beauty it is what each person thinks is right for them. society says tall, blonde full grown women are beautiful. no one says that everyone has their own individual type of beauty seen or not.
it influences many by getting surgery or hair styles or clothes but if you go with what your comfertable in or what is to your liking the real you will be enough for everyone to appriciate you.
Back in the Middle Ages, wealth defined beauty. You could tell wealth by "fatness." Fat people could afford to eat! So, fat people were beautiful.
Also, feminine features in a man have been considered beautiful since Greek times.
Things have changed, but not really. Health is still beauty. Super-skinny women (Kate Moss) have been rejected by the media in recent years, and athletic women have been seen as the norm.
When you look at society and how people act and look you think to yourself are they only trying to be like that because they saw it somewheres else and they idol this person. Everywheres you go you have different types of people and no matter what everyones going to be different no matter how much you try to be alike your "idol". I'm sure everyone has someone that they say oh I wish that I could look like that or I wish that I was as pretty as them or hot like them. "Looks" play a huge part in everyones lives and sometimes people let them take over a lot. You be surprised at how many people truely care about being the "perfect" symbol.
Hi Mrs. Trembley thought I would visit the blog and help keep it going. My english class here doesn't have something like that and it's always nice to state and opinion.
