Poetry Project

How much of an impact did the poet's biography have on your understanding or interpretation of the poems you chose to write about?

The poet that i chose really realated to my age group. He writes peoms through teenagers points of view as well as being everyday issues and having to go through some of them. Every poem delt with discrimiantion towards something or what most teens have to go through because their not the same as the next person.

After doing the biography first it had a very big impact on how Iinterpretted the poems. If Ihadnt done a biography I wouldnt have known she grew up in the wilderness and was influenced a lot by nature. I dont think without that background information I would have interpretted the poems the way I did.

Although we bring so much of ourselves to the interpretation of poetry, I think it is always helpful to know about the poet to help guide the way we interpret what is presented. Thank you for picking up on that!

It was easy to do that with my author because he was writing from teens points of view. Though it was a pain in the butt the whole project I'm more of the type to write poetry than to read it and do big projects on it. There's a lot of stress along with it. But hey got to do what you got to do.
