Why is the patient so important in a medical collaboration? Why is it important for all of us to realize "what might be right for one patient [isn't] necessarily right for another"(91)?
the patient it very important in a medical collaboration because you cant think about the fame of them like some of Lance's drs. were doing you have to think about whats going to help them and make them better. sometimes the same procedure might not help the person because its not strong enough. with Lance Armstrong i dont think that if he wasnt an athlete he wouldn't be fighting so hard to be beating cancer. Hes always in competion mood when hes going through treatments. That has to be a good thing and helped him through most of the treament.
The patients is important in a medical collaboration because not only in Lance's case they all know him because of his fame from cycling, but you need to think whats going to help them out and what is going to let them continue with there career. One thing might the way out for one person, but it might not be helpful for someone else. They could need different medications for the same problem, they might need this because one person could have a medical issue with the medicine being used. You need to take the persons lifestyle and medical records to concideration before you say the procedure or medicine will help one the same as the other. You never know unless you look into things and in this field of being a doctor it's a very important step because the person you are working with is leaving their life in your hands.
Your right not everyone is the same but if Lance wasn't an athlete and well known do you really think that he would get all this attention? I think that all these Dr's wanted to treat him because they wanted a famous person to be cured by them. Then they would be well known! In today's world it seems like it's who you know rather than what you know. Lance had the hook up from everywhere. From his friends to the people who treated him. A Dr's job is very important but when they are turning other patients away because they may not have the money for a procedure thats not fair. They never turned Lance away and he wasnt making money he was stuck in a bed sick, almost dieing and everything still wanted him like he was nothing.
